Branch Officers |
Jim Moroney - President |
Jim joined London Branch in November 1985 in the days when there was a waiting list to start training. Since then, he has become a Dive Leader and instructor, and enjoys the opportunity to train people new to diving. Interestingly, Jim holds the unofficial world record for the largest personal collection of waterproof clothing and is rumoured to be lobbying M&S to produce a line of GORE-TEX® underpants. |
Joe Hesketh - Chairman |
| Joe learned to dive with London Branch 5 years ago and has occupied various roles on committee for much of that time. Outside of BSAC, Joe also holds tech and full cave ratings with GUE and is an active member of DIR-UK's wreck and cave diving teams. However, he still very much enjoys taking novices in the pool or doing pretty fish diving from the club RIB. This year is Joe's first in the chair and he's looking forward to the challenge. |
Morgan Peat - Diving Officer |
Morgan has his hands full for a second year as DO. He has been diving for 7 years after learning in London Branch and is an active recreational and technical diver. You will likely find him instructing in the pool or hunting tasty seafood under the waves. If you can't find him there, look in the pub! |
Megan Peat - Treasurer |
| Rather than spending her 17th birthday behind the wheel of a car learning to drive, Megan was doing her first dives in sunny Salcombe. Many years later, having regrettably lapsed into landlubbing, she has now seen the light and recommenced her diving career with a vengeance. Despite being a warm water holiday diver at heart, she's most often seen at random UK dive sites in garish orange drysuit and 'tasteful' woolly hat, or strutting around in her 'polyester' pyjamas! |
Hannah Bleakley - Branch Secretary |
Hannah joined the club as a qualified diver and natrual water baby, although she had never dived in the UK, or any where much below 25 degrees before. So it was all a bit of a shock for her, but she has dived in with bundles of enthusiasm and even volunteered to join the committee. |

Committee Members |
Chris Handley - Social Secretary |
| Chris is a relative newcomer to the club, but has made up for lost time with an impressive number of dives last year, in a rather shabby wetsuit. He has also been seen loading large amounts of dive kit onto a sturdy bicycle. With an extensive knowledge of London’s watering holes, he hopes to tempt you out to get to know the other members better! |
George Vartolomeev - Equipment Officer |
George is barking mad. |
Jim Bruce - Marketing |
| Jim Bruce first qualified with Padi in the early 1990s but only dived sporadically until 2003. Since then he has managed to evade his financial responsibilities more successfully, thus allowing him to take his diving more seriously. He has been in the BSAC club fold since then. As well as floating in the water, he floats on it by going sailing and playing canoe polo. As club marketing officer, he displays the wisdom of youth and the energy of the elderly. |
Michael Hansen - Training Officer |
Michael joined the club in the middle of last season without any previous UK diving experience. He quickly learned to appreciate the qualities of UK diving and is now completely hooked. When he is not diving, he talks about diving and he spends most of his work time trawling the Internet for diving related articles. He would really like to look like a DIR diver, but because he bought most of his kit before he knew any better, he looks more like something out of Toy Story. Some people also say that Michael bought his BC just to see the look of disgust on Joe's face, but he denies this. |
